Noggin of Quendale was born at Quendale Farm, Shetland on 16th May
1984. One of the many quality ponies bred by the late Mr Tom Burgess, at
an early age Noggin caught Myrna's eye and she was fortunate to be able to purchase
him as a foal at auction in October of that year.
He was a big, strong, rather overbearing foal whom it
took considerable time and patience to bring under control. The
effort, however, was well worthwhile as he turned out to be very
successful both as a stud stallion and in the showring.
He was of remarkable temperament, being both spirited
and gentle, quickly establishing himself as stud boss, a position he held
quietly and undisputedly until the end.
He won many class rosettes, Championships and Reserve
Champion accolades also siring fine progeny, perhaps the best known being
the mare Shalder of Grutness -
winner of several show championships - and more recently, Grutness
Cognax - Supreme Champion at 2006 Viking Show and standard ring
Champion and best black pony at the same show in 2007 and 2008, also
Supreme Shetland Pony Champion and Reserve Overall Showfield Champion at
Cunningsburgh Show 2008.
